Mark J. Burish, MD, PhD, a board-certified neurologist fellowship-trained in pain medicine and specializing in the treatment of neck pain, back pain, and neuropathic pain. He’s committed to providing superior care, including enrolling patients who qualify in clinical trials to treat headaches.
Burish is an associate professor in the Vivian L. Smith Department of Neurology with McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
His research interests focus on headaches and facial pain. He has co-authored articles that have appeared in the Journal of Comparative Neurology, The Neurohospitalist, Brain Behavior and Evolution, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Cerebral Cortex, Journal of Neurophysiology, and the Journal of Neuroscience, among others.
Burish is a member of the American Academy of Neurology, American Pain Society, American Society of Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, and the North American Neuromodulation Society.

Dr. Mark Burish is hands down the best doctor I've ever seen. His professionalism, intelligence, and exceptional knowledge of treatment are unmatched. Nurse called my name wrong in the waiting room- a totally different name. The follow up was 8 months out- not really comfortable with that- given starting a new dosage of medicine, but it was the only appointment being offered

I have been seeing Dr.Burish for approximately five years and he is the best doctor that I have ever seen. He is very kind and caring., he absolutely cares about his patience's and goes above & beyond whatever he has to do to make sure you are ok & takes the time to call you back to check on you at his convenience . Excellent care
I loved Dr. Burish and I loved how the telemedicine visit went because I could see my doctor, I could talk to my doctor personally and in the comfort of my own home. And it was one-on-one and I felt that we covered everything that I needed to cover. And it was very effective.
Dr. Burish is a great migraine headache specialist. In the entire University of Texas health system, he is known as the only migraine specialist and he needs someone with his experience and reputation to help him assist the massive number of people that need migraine assistance. He spends half of his time doing valuable research and it takes anywhere from six months to nine months to get an appointment with him. As a UT graduate, former hospital administrator, and an attorney with the largest law firm in the world, it's an embarrassment on the UT health system that we can't hire someone to help this great doctor. By far, Dr. Mark Burish, is the most meticulous, caring, and compassionate doctor I have ever seen along with Dr. Megan Rogge, who referred me to Dr. Burish. I have spent nearly one year and a half consulting with multiple physicians who were nowhere near as attentive. Dr. Burish and his certified nurse assistant Claudia were extremely kind and reviewed my extensive medical history. Both of them were able to provide me with suggestions to assist me with my current symptoms. I feel extremely lucky to have the opportunity, to finally be treated by a highly knowledgeable, and motivated specialist. I am hopeful that over the next couple of months, I will begin experiencing less pain, and a decrease in my current symptoms related to Dr. Burish's medication and medical device recommendations. I would refer Dr. Burish to anyone experiencing similar symptoms. I left his office feeling absolutely relieved that there may be a light at the end of the tunnel, and I may begin to enjoy my days and nights again. It feels amazing to know that someone so talented, and intelligent has impeccable people skills. I'm glad that I have eight thousand characters to express my appreciation. I felt hope after my appointment. I thought the secretary was wonderful. I thought the doctor was wonderful. I thought everybody was on top of their game. And I felt hope. I hadn't felt hope in a long time. So I guess thank you. And yeah, that's all. That's all I have to say.
