How to enroll in text messaging

Via Text Message

  1. Text START to 38184. Message and data rates may apply, and frequency may vary. For assistance, text HELP. To opt out of these notifications, text STOP. Review the terms and conditions.
    1. If you’re unsure that your updated mobile number is in your patient record, please speak with a member of our health care team.
 

Via MyUTHealth Houston Patient Portal

  1. In your MyUTHealth Houston patient portal, from the Menu navigate to Account Settings > Communication Preferences. overlay
  2. Click on Opt in under the General section. You will now see Text Message listed in your contact settings, and it will be automatically toggled on.overlay
  3. When you’re done, click Save changes.overlay
 

Via Scheduled Visit

You can speak with a member of our health care team at your next office visit to assist you with signing up for text messaging. A mobile number is required to enroll in text messaging.

How do I update my phone number?

You can update your phone number when you check in with a member of the health care team at your next appointment, or through your MyUTHealth Houston patient portal.

  1. In your MyUTHealth Houston patient portal account, select Menu and navigate to Account Settings > Personal Information.
  2. In the Contact Information section, select Edit to modify your contact information.
  3. When you’re done, click Save changes.
