Our practice covers the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery with expertise ranging from corrective jaw surgery to treating advanced head and neck cancer. We also diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries, and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ) disorders, and we offer a variety of dental implant and bone grafting procedures.

Oral, Head and Neck Cancer​

Oral cancer, also known as mouth cancer, affects the tongue, cheeks, floor of the mouth, and surrounding teeth area. Head and neck cancers can also affect the larynx, thyroid, and salivary glands. Currently, an estimated 110,000 people are diagnosed with oral, head and neck cancer annually in the U.S. It is estimated that 54,000 new cases of oral, head and neck cancer occur annually in the U.S.

OMS Residency Program

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Program at UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry offers a four-year track where residents receive a certificate in oral and maxillofacial surgery. It also offers a six-year integrated OMS/MD track, which adopts a similar schedule to the four-year program, with the primary difference consisting of requirements for obtaining the medical degree.
