UTHealth Houston will be the title sponsor for the 2023 Houston Half Marathon & 10K, which will be held on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, in downtown Houston.
“The goal of the Houston Half Marathon & 10K is to promote community and physical fitness and to uplift local charities. We are pleased to partner with UTHealth Houston, a fellow nonprofit that offers top-notch health care across Houston, for this exciting event,” said Bob Schamus, president of the Houston Striders, the nonprofit running club that has organized the race since 2006.
As part of the sponsorship, the Houston Half Marathon & 10K is unveiling a new logo featuring UTHealth Houston. The sponsorship also includes opportunities for UTHealth Houston to highlight its services. With more than 2,000 clinicians certified in more than 80 medical specialties and subspecialties, UT Physicians, the clinical practice of McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, provides multispecialty care for the entire family.
“UTHealth Houston is committed to the health of athletes and the community. Through this sponsorship, the university looks forward to working with the Houston Striders and Houston Half Marathon & 10K,” said Andrew Casas, senior vice president of UTHealth Houston and chief operating officer of UT Physicians. “As a health university, our messages of physical activity and proactive health care are perfectly aligned with this sponsorship.”
