We care for infants, children, adolescents and young adults with all types of blood disorders. We are a major regional referral center for pediatric patients, proving evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and perioperative management of patients with hematologic disorders including:

- Neutropenia
- Hemoglobinopathies including Sickle Cell Anemia
- Thalassemia
- Hemophilia
- Von Willebrand Disease
- Platelet Disorders
- Other Rare Bleeding Disorders
- Arterial and Venous Thrombosis
- Other Clotting Disorders
- Bone Marrow Failure Syndromes including Aplastic Anemia, Severe Congenital Neutropenia, Diamond-Blackfan Anemia, Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome, Fanconi Anemia, etc.
We provide inpatient services and consultations for pediatric patients at Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and the Children’s Cancer Hospital at The University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. We staff several clinics dedicated to the care of pediatric patients with hemophilia, von Willebrand disease, platelet disorders, thrombosis, sickle cell disease, and other blood disorders at The University of Texas Physicians Practice Plan Building and at the Robin Bush Child and Adolescent Center Clinic at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. Services and support for our hemophilia patients is coordinated through Gulf States Hemophilia & Thrombophilia Center.
We provide a medical home for patients with all types of blood disorders. Our multidisciplinary team consists of physicians, nurse practitioners, clinical and research nurses, pharmacists, social workers, physical therapists, geneticists, and support staff who work together to provide comprehensive, individualized care for every child. As part of the UT Physicians Practice Plan, we have close working relationships with pediatric surgeons, neurologists, gastroenterologists, infectious disease specialists, and many others. We also coordinate care with our Pediatric Dentistry department to serve the needs of every child.
