Woihwan “Woi” Kim, MD, is board-certified in general surgery and fellowship-trained in colorectal surgery. His clinical interests include colon and rectal cancer, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and anorectal pathologies. He helps his patients understand their medical problems, lab tests, and imaging so that they can be advocates for themselves.
He’s currently an assistant professor of surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
After graduating from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 2017, he completed residency training in general surgery in 2023 at Albany Medical Center in New York. He completed fellowship training in colon and rectal surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston in 2024.
Outside of work, Kim enjoys spending time with his wife and son, reading, exploring outdoor recreation, PC gaming, and being involved with his church family.

My doctor was booked, but Dr. Kim willingly saw me. He was very thorough and acted swiftly in recommending treatments. His assistant was patient with me and he had my medical history printed along with my chart so Dr. Kim would be informed of my medical history. The front office greeted me with a smile and acknowledged my presence immediately.

Have to especially mention that Dr. Kim and his MA are very professional in what they do specially in protecting patient privacy and make sure I feel comfortable during the examination.
