I cannot thank you all enough for the concern given to myself and the questions I and my husband have had thus for. We are trusting and believe Dr. Walid IBN Essayed is the neurosurgeon perfect for my needs.

I feel very comfortable with the doctor and that he reviewed my test results and then spoke to me concerning the matter. Very comfortable and very patient with the patients.

The physician not only listened to me without rushing he even solicited questions from me which I truly appreciate. He approached me with a big smile and worm embrace. He's one of the best doctors that have crossed my path.

Upon arrival, the receptionist for Dr. Walid was not very helpful. I had to ask if I needed to fill out paperwork since the receptionist had taken the initiative. She then gave me the paperwork in Spanish which felt very racist considering I was clearly speaking in English the whole time. She assumed I was Mexican since my last name is a Spanish name. I told her I neither read nor spoke Spanish. She did not seem to care nor did she apologize for her assumption and mistake. I do not know her name, but she was an African American receptionist. After I was called to go in, there was another woman named Joanna. She was not very tactful, and was quite curt when speaking to me. I had a similar rude interaction with her over the phone and thought she would improve in person. She did not. My experience with the doctor was entirely different from his staff. Dr. Walid was extremely helpful during my appointment. I asked him many questions about my condition and he answered them while showing me paper copies of my MRI scans. He educated me so much, more than any other neurologist or neurosurgeon I have ever visited. He was so generous with his knowledge as he answered all my questions about my cervical discs and what the next course of treatment would be. I am so thankful for his patience, and even more for his willingness to help me know more about my condition and how to treat it. Since my condition doesn't meet the severest criteria, he advised me not to have surgery. For years, I have been riddled with uncertainty and confusion surrounding the decision of whether or not I should have surgery; mostly due to the myriad of opinions from various doctors telling me I should or shouldn't have surgery. None of them have ever explained the exact circumstances and symptoms eligible for surgery, nor did they explain all the multiple risks or benefits as thoroughly and clearly as Dr. Walid. I hope many specialists learn from Dr. Walid's willingness to take the time to thoroughly explain a patient's diagnosis and treatment so that they can provide ultimate clarity to a patient's understanding. All of the information I learned was invaluable and I appreciate it very much. Thank you.

Dr. Essayed was very kind. He took the time to explain to me in detail what my condition is, what the procedure will be like. He really, really took the time, was very caring. He listened to me patiently, answered all my questions, and he really gave me confidence. So that's the reason why I chose him as my surgeon. So I'm very appreciative. And I'm actually looking forward to my surgery on Thursday. So thank you.
