Thy Nguyen, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained neurologist treating patients 18 and older with neuromuscular disorders. She specializes in treating immune-mediated neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis and chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP). She also has expertise and advanced training in electromyography and nerve conduction studies. Her patient care philosophy centers on fostering relationships with patients to deliver optimal, individualized care.
Nguyen is also a professor of neurology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and reading.
Nguyen’s publications include a variety of topics such as Guillain Barre Syndrome and other peripheral neuropathies, motor neuron disorders, hereditary spastic paraparesis, electrodiagnostic techniques, femoral neuropathies, sciatic neuropathies and thoracic outlet syndrome.

Dr,Thy, and her staff was extremely professional and kind. I was early to my appointment so I was willing to wait for my actual appt visit, it was well worth it! Dr. Thy was Highly recommended very nice physician, I pray that my EMG fiber results are good.
[...] Since Dr. Brown was unable to get most of my history because he was interrupted. Dr. Nguyen asked me instead. Even though her tone and interaction with me was polite she seem very rushed. Dr. Nguyen went over my history fast and really didn't seem to care to actually listen thoughtfuly or try to get to the bottom of my concern at all which is my pain which she seem not believe me when I said it's the worst pain I have ever experienced in my life because the first half of my test looked normal. Dr. Nguyen did what almost every doctor does and assumed the pain stems from Cerebral Palsy which I am aware could be a big possibility but I truly dislike was its the first and only conclusion any doctor jumps to. As for the second half of the test Dr. Nguyen explained everything and made sure I was comfortable. Dr. Nguyen asked how she could help me when trying to get up from the bed which I really appreciated. I would not schedule with Dr. Nguyen again. [...]

My treatment was totally unexpected. I have back problems and this exam was for double vision. I drove 8 hours round trip from Louisiana expecting an evaluation of my back pain.

Dr. Nguyen is one of the most caring doctors I have experienced and I am 81 years old. She listens very well and give thoughtful answers supported by scientific facts to give her opinion and diagnoses weight and clarity. I really feel blessed to have her as my physician.

Great to do out of office experience
Dr. Nguyen is an excellent physician. I feel very confident of the care that I'm receiving.
Dr. Nguyen provided the neurological testing that I required. The tests provided the information needed for further treatment of my condition. She understood my concerns and shared the results in understandable way. Very attentive and compassionate. Her fellow was knowledgeable and helpful, but can improve his listening skills.
Dr. Nguyen is a total professional and she knows her field. I am fortunate that she is my Neurologist.

I'm pleased with my experience.
This is a new experience for me - a doctor I'd seen previously recognized some warning signs, and gave me instructions on who to contact next, as well as instructing me that this would be the first of maybe possibly many other specialists to manage my condition. The only issue is that I don't know what I don't know, and I need someone to ask questions to help them diagnose and treat chronic pain with abnormal bloodwork. I'm not sure that happened, as we were both sort of apprehensive to a course, but had a definite starting point, which is really appreciated! She also stated the course of action very clearly, and is going to coordinate my follow up care with her colleague as to not have me carve out another six hours of travel time to a facility that is already very difficult to maneuver! I'm grateful for that!!!
