Surya N. Mundluru, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. His training experience has given him a unique perspective related to pediatric care and has presented on various topics at national meetings.
He started in the Department of Internal Medicine and Department of Pediatrics at the prestigious Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He developed a love for pediatric orthopedic treatment and care and then went on to pursue further training at NYU Langone Hospital for joint diseases in orthopedic surgery.
Dr. Mundluru is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Pediatric Orthopedic Society of North America where he serves on national committees.
He has a passion for tennis, and during his time at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, he was a NCAA Division I tennis player.

Everything was perfect with my doctor, Dr. Mundluru. He's a perfect, he's an awesome doctor. He gives you details, he talks to you in a male-to-male language that you as a parent and as a child, we all understand. So I give it 100%, 101, 104%.
I especially appreciate Dr. Mundluru's time that he takes to educate caretakers on how to best care for patients and talk through questions and explain things to better improve quality of life. I also appreciated that his office let me know that he was going to be running late and rescheduled my appointment to a little bit later, which I appreciated the respect of my time as well. It was just an overall good experience with Dr. Mundluru. He, I feel like, works with caregivers to help make patients' lives better.
I have extensive health issues and an army of doctors - and not a single one of them is as attentive, communicative or as thorough as my son's doctor, Dr Mundluru. I wish more doctors were like him. Highly recommend

I had a horrible experience. I waited in the waiting room for an hour, 30 minutes after my scheduled appointment, and then another hour in the back room only to see the physicians assistant, not the doctor. Only then to be told by the physicians assistant that there is nothing the can do for me and I need to call my pediatrician for a referral for rehab and physical medicine. I felt my time was not valued as a patient. It should have been mentioned when booking the appointment that they couldn't help me, so that we are not delaying getting my daughter proper care.
The lady who checked us in was wonderfully reassuring about projected costs and double-checked my insurance. The individual who took vitals was great. Dr. Mundluru factored my daughter's sensory needs/limitations into his plan of care. And Mr. Luis, who applied her soft cast, made the process magical instead of scary. Leslie, who checked us out, was very supportive in helping me figure out next steps with our referring pediatrician. My overall initial impression of the entire care team is quite high.
I was treated very well and the doctor was patiently explaining all the procedures and the feedback on the x-rays. We really, really love the idea of continue working in the medical plan suggested by Dr. And we definitely will recommend him to anyone that is experiencing the same scoliosis diagnosis. Thank you very much and we would love to continue working with you all.
The wait time is always over an hour after my appointment time. Why ask me to come in 20 minutes early so I can wait 90 minutes instead of only 70?

Wait time to see the doctor was incredibly long. Doctor cancelled first appt and this was the reschedule. Not a good first impression. Couldn't sign up for the portal to fill out paperwork because it wouldn't accept parent info bc child was the patient. Couldn't use patients info bc they are too young. Highly annoying making first first even longer bc of paperwork that had to be filled out in office vs ahead of time.
Dr. MUNDLURU is one of the BEST docs we ever experienced in America.
This was the most professional, efficient, and well run office I have ever been to. From the front office to the nurses, Xray techs, doctor, and checkout desk our experience was amazing.
Dr Mundluru is a super star!! He is caring smart thoughtful and just great!

Dr. Mundluru was wonderful. He was very kind and professional. He explained everything very clearly and in a way that was easy to understand. He reassured us and helped us understand what to expect. Unfortunately, not every provider takes the time to do these things so we really appreciated the time he spent talking with us.
The Dr. was very friendly, knew exactly was going on and treated him fast. He related well will my son. Helped him pick out a cast color. Would recommend to anyone. Office staff was very friendly as well. Especially the lady upfront that us scheduled. She kept in touch with me during the process.
I don't know where to start. It's been about two years of going through a nightmare of trying to figure out what, where and how to begin the process of diagnosing my daughter with what she's been going through a lot of pain, just involving a lot of pain. My provider, my doctor, had explained it so well, was so informative, was so caring, was so genuine, so inspiring. I just can't tell you how I'm so grateful to have been in his presence while he was helping me go through the small understanding of what was going on with my daughter. So I don't think he should change anything. I just think he should stay the same way. He's an angel. I appreciate you so much and I'm so grateful for you. I hope that you continue.
The doctor was good but on the first appointment we waited in the examine room for over an hour and this time we waited in the waiting room over an hour and half. I went up to the receptionist and they were surprised as if no one knew we were there. Once I addressed it and they went back to talk to whomever the appointment proceeded quickly.
The doctor was fine but the staff was horrible. We stepped out of the room with the doctor and were walking towards checkout. I just realized I needed to ask the doctor something but he had by that time gone to another room/patient. So I said either I can wait from him to get free or have the nurse go ask him. After waiting for 10-15 mins I was told to get out with no answers on what I was asking. I pleaded that this was the main reason to make an appointment and I can wait but I was asked to get out, quite aggressively. Never had such an experience at a doctors office ever in my life.
The Radiologist were so sweet and patient with my 1 year old son. The Doctor was great! Super professional and broke everything down to where we completely understood. We definitely left there with a peace of mind. Our overall experience is a 10/10. Great job!
Dr was so nice and kind! However busy office and been waiting from 2-4pm to cut the cast. Baby was hungry no eating no milk . Waiting room next to xray area not good! Need more staff to cut or replace the cast so baby wont hv to wait long time and cry out loud. We hv to carry her around to make baby happy n not crying bc of hunger n long wait
The provider was excellent. However, we waited for almost an hour before being seen. We were 20 minutes early, as requested, and were not given any indications of a wait that long.
