Steven Flores, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon focused on providing exceptional care for all of his patients.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery with an additional certificate of added qualification in orthopedic sports medicine, Dr. Flores has over 15 years of experience specializing in knee, shoulder, and sports medicine injuries with an emphasis on arthroscopy and minimally invasive techniques. Dr. Flores treats both athletes and non-athletes of all ages who have sustained injuries or are experiencing issues that they feel need evaluation.
He is an assistant professor and the program director of the Orthopedic Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Dr. Flores served as the head team physician for the Houston Rockets for over ten years and is currently the head team orthopedist for the Houston Texans. He also provides orthopedic care for numerous schools around the Houston area.
He is a fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is also an active member of the NFL Physicians Society.
Dr. Flores received his undergraduate degree with honors from Texas A&M University. He attended medical school at Baylor College of Medicine and completed a general surgery internship and an orthopedic surgery residency at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. He then went on to complete a sports medicine fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Flores is a fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, fellow member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, member of the International Society of Arthroscopy Sports Medicine and Knee Surgery. He is also an active member of the NFL Physicians Society and NBA Society of Team Physicians.

Yeah, the wait time was amazing. We walked right in, saw the doctor immediately. However, my daughter felt like she wasn't heard and heard complaints. And we actually went and saw another doctor within practice and had an MRI and come to find out she has a torn meniscus. So had we not gone to a second doctor, we would just be thinking her knee was a sprain. So to me, that's a misdiagnosis. So that's all the feedback I have.
Dr Flores has an excellent bed side manner and really took the time to discuss my situation.
Did not communicate about anticipated wait time but I had very little or no wait time. I was brought in immediately at my appointment time. Great service.

Hi. Everything was wonderful. The providers, Dr. Mark and Dr. Flores, were fabulous and their staff also fabulous. Ten out of ten. The only thing I would say to maybe tweak would be the medical center office. The chairs in the rooms are extremely uncomfortable. You may consider replacing those with less uncomfortable chairs. I had a few questions about the billing. It was a little confusing whether this was just a, since I had to pay a copay, whether this was connected with the surgery since it was a checkup on the surgery or if this was, if I was supposed to be billed for a copay like a regular check, like a regular visit. Also, very helpful this time around, but the visit beforehand was kind of a different story in terms of, you know, I had some concerns about the bulge of my knee. This time it was very receptive. Last time it was more of like I should be doing more, even though I felt like I was doing a lot, trying to follow the instructions and going through according to the physical therapy. It was just a little bit confusing what was the difference between when I visited six weeks ago and what happened this past visit.
