Shiraz Younas, MD, is a professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Younas specializes in pediatric orthopedics with an emphasis in spinal deformities and scoliosis.
Younas completed both his internship and residency at the Michael E. DeBakey Department of General Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. He gained specialized knowledge and expertise by completing a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at the University of Tennessee’s Campbell Clinic in Memphis. During this fellowship, he trained with world-renowned pediatric orthopedic surgeons with a special focus on scoliosis.

We're very satisfied with the outcome that the doctors did with my daughter.
It was our first time at the clinic, and I loved everything. It was quick, clear, and the attention from everyone was great, from the entrance, the nurses, to the doctor. However, the person at the check-out made faces, and I'm not sure if it was because she didn't hear me or didn't understand me the first time. I kindly requested the doctor's note for my son's school, and she made me feel very uncomfortable about it. Everything else was great, but she left much to be desired. Thank you.

Everyone there from front desk to doctor were very welcoming and made my son feel very comfortable on his appointment.
Everyone was great with the exception of Gabi in the cast room. She was very harsh and did not give directions but expected child to know what she wanted him to do. A little courtesy goes a long way. She def did not seem like she knew how to work with children (11 years) and she def did not seem like she liked her job. She was the only one that wasn't cordial at the office.
Great staff, great doctor! I've recommended this location to several people.
Everyone was incredibly considerate of my daughter and our time and doing what they could to help her and get us out of the office quickly.

Check out was a little hectic. But everything else was fine.
The doctor was incredible. He was so compassionate with us, knowing that a diagnosis like my daughter received is scary and he told it to us gently and with kindness. He explained what needed to happen and his guidance was very much appreciated. Then the scoliosis nurse that came in and spoke to us after was wonderful as well, making the whole thing into something that wasn't terrifying or awful, but understandable and livable. The both of them answered our questions and were so wonderful the whole way through.

Our appointment was made with Dr. [...]. In order to see him, we took our child out of school early, took off work early and drove to Cypress from Katy. When we checked in we were told it would be an hour and a half wait for our 4pm appointment. No explanation as to why. We were seen by the doctor about an hour late, but it was not Dr. [...]. I assume something happened where Dr. [...] was not available and all of Dr. [...]'s patients were seen by the other doctors. But assuming he was supposed to be in cypress all day, why weren't we called to arrive later. You weren't suddenly running an hour behind at 4pm. Had I ran an hour behind you would have charged me an exorbitant fee and cancelled my appointment. Ultimately we had a good experience with the doctor, the cast person, the xray person. But I'm not impressed with the communication and the basically "deal with it" attitude of being told we'd be waiting an hour and a half for an appointment without explanation. I could have been prepared with snacks for my kid, activities to do while we waited, or even been happy to arrive later so we aren't sitting in a waiting room.
Dr. Younas and [...] PA, were amazing! Very kind and explained everything thoroughly! No complaints! Highly recommend!

Dr. Younas and the whole staff were fantastic. He made us feel like he really cared about my son and what we were feeling. We know surgery may need to take place but he listens and allows us to try different approaches to see if we can take care of his scoliosis without surgery and we truly appreciate that. Especially since the first doctor didn't offer anything except surgery.
