Sarly T. Butte is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who provides individual and group psychotherapy for adolescents and adults in English and Spanish. She’s the clinic director of the UTHealth Trauma and Resilience Center in the Louis A. Faillace, MD, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Butte is experienced in treating survivors of sexual assault and abuse, intimate partner and family violence, combat trauma, military sexual trauma, and other traumatic events. She provides evidence-based treatments for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), including cognitive processing therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, written exposure therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia and nightmares, and concurrent treatment of PTSD and substance use disorders using prolonged exposure therapy. She has worked with adults, adolescents, and children in outpatient and intensive outpatient settings treating substance abuse, anxiety, and depression, and has experience working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community and persons with HIV and AIDS.
Butte takes a collaborative approach with patients to help them achieve their goals and lead fuller, more fulfilling lives. She strives to create a safe and affirming space for all patients.
Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, son, and twin daughters.
