Dr. Raj Shani is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Shani specializes in Sports Medicine with an emphasis on surgery of the shoulder, knee, and ankle. He has traveled internationally, gaining expertise in new and innovative techniques in cartilage repair and preservation.
Shani was the Team Physician during the River Oaks Clay Court Championship, Memorial Hermann Marathon, and several Ironman events. He is currently the Team Physician for St. Pius High School and Lutheran North High School.
Shani is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Stag was amazing; professional, prompt, and friendly.
The staff member at the front desk was young, and could care less about someone coming through the front door. Arrived 10 minutes early and had to wait for over 45 minutes. The nurse that escorted me to the examination room was the same one that had called me the day before confirming my appointment and my current status. Very professional and caring. The young lady at the front desk should take a few lessons from her.

This operates like a pill mill if you ask me. When I say hi good morning and the response is can I see your insurance card and I'd. That in itself is enough to push anyone on the fence over and will never make raving fans out of the ones that kinda like you.

This is Paul Smith speaking. This is my first visit with Raj, so he was basically unfamiliar with a lot of my history, but we talked and filled that in, so I was very comfortable with his presentation and presence and his explanations for what was going on with me.
Dr Shani has a wonderful bedside manner & explains options to assess my issues. He listens to my concerns & I walk out feelin much better. I recommended him to my partner soon I walked out of my appt. His nurse practioner also offered good information & explained everything I asked her about
