Rachel Barton is a board-certified primary care and acute care pediatric nurse practitioner (NP). Her background is in neonatal intensive care, primary care, and multiple surgical specialties. In addition to pediatric surgery, she sees general surgery referrals and helps coordinate care for colorectal patients. She believes in building long-term relationships with patients and families and strives to help patients achieve their medical goals.
Barton has been a registered nurse since 2009 after earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from the University of Central Florida. In 2013, she earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree and her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree with a focus in pediatrics, both from the Medical University of South Carolina. Barton obtained additional training as an acute care practitioner from The University of Texas at Arlington in 2020. She completed registered nurse first assist (RFNA) training in 2023 and assists during surgeries.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, baking, and traveling to visit family.

We originally attempted to make an appointment with a provider closer to home, the billing department however was extremely uncooperative & blatantly demeaning. As a result we made the appointment at the Katy location. The entire staff at the Katy location went above & beyond not inly with care but to ensure we comprehend everything every step of the way. The ONLY thing I could possibly suggest to improve this location would be to suggest the parent take the opportunity during the wait for the procedure to be completed to create and sign into the patient portal. Our baby had severe bleeding at home (which we knew could happen) and in the panic couldn't think clearly enough to create the portal connection. So we just called our Kelsey provider. Again absolutely not a critique, as the provider and her support staff were amazing. I thank you so much for your care and your heart.
The staff were amazing. The doctor and the nurse practitioner were awesome and very supportive. And they even helped us with all of our equipment. We really appreciated going over there.

Rachel Barton is an awesome caregiver, physician, and I just love the way that she's very personable, and you really feel like she cares about your baby. I mean, I believe she does care about my baby. And I just thought somebody needs to know that that's so refreshing in doctors.

Rachel is one of the most caring & knowledgeable NP's ever . She pours her heart into her patients & it shows . We adore her and her expertise & how well she knows our child & her rare condition. We cannot express how appreciative we are for everything she has done for our child .
