Philip Johnson, M.D., is a board certified physician and division director, professor and vice-chair for the Department of Internal Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth.
He is actively involved in clinical patient care, teaching and research. Dr. Johnson served as the associate program director of the University Clinical Research Center at Memorial Hermann Hospital for 15 years, with interest in the research areas of gastrointestinal and fungal infections and HIV/AIDS. His research awards include, but are not limited to, grants from NASA and leading pharmaceutical companies.
Dr. Johnson was listed in Texas Super Doctors and the Best Doctors in America a total of four times and was voted as one of Houston’s Top Doctors in 2002.
Dr. Johnson is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine as well as a fellow in the American College of Physicians.

Doctor Johnson and his staff is professional, courteous, attentive, knowledgeable and listens to myself and my family's needs. We are blessed to have his guidance and care! He diagnosed my husband's very rare DAF, directed us to the top neurosurgeon to perform brain surgery and are overwhelmed by the performance of the outcome. Dr Johnson and his staff (Nurse - Twyla and his new resident) are exceptional. I always receive outstanding care whether I am in his office or video conferencing. I live 100 miles from Dr Johnson's office so the video conferencing is a welcome convenience when it isn't necessary to see the great doctor F2F.

Several years ago, Dr. Philip Johnson was recommended to me concerning my mother's care. He provided her with EXCELLENT care. Years later, I was having several medical problems. I was seeing another doctor but my medical issues continued. I PRAYED that I would find Dr. Philip Johnson, because I needed help desperately. Based on his interaction with my Mother, I knew I would be in CARING hands. After searching, I found my BLESSING, Dr. Philip Johnson. He is an AWESOME MEDICAL SPECIALIST! I so appreciate his willingness to allow me to share my health concerns. Before I leave the room, I have been provided an action plan to help me. I can ONLY THANK GOD for a WONDERFUL DOCTOR, Dr. Philip Johnson.
Everything was done right. The only thing is that the lady at the front desk, the first lady that I go up to, she, I'm a transgender. She called me mister, sir. And I've been a transgender for years. I'm 65. 44 years transgender. I look just like a Mexican woman. Think about that.
Dr. Johnson is an excellent physician who knows what he is doing and takes time with patients. Ditto for his nurses and medical students.
In the last of my visit to Doctor , the assistance did taking my blood pressure ,that was outside of the patient room ,the result was ( 147 / 76 ) . i did write to her that i did that in the same day in the morning and the result was { 137 / 75 } , and i wrote to her would you please use the other device located in this room ( patient room ) , she reply no , and when the student's came in , he has to redo and the result was { 130/78 } . and i concluded that she is not respect person!!!!!!
