About

Dr. Chip Routt is a Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He also serves as the Chair of Trauma in the department.

Certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, Dr. Routt specializes in Orthopedic Trauma with an emphasis on treating the multiply injured patient. His areas of expertise include Pelvic ring and acetabular disruptions and acetabular fractures. He is internationally recognized for his pioneering work developing safe percutaneous pelvic fixation techniques, relevant pelvic biomechanical research, reliable pelvic and acetabular imaging, innovative and improved surgical care for complex acetabular fractures, optimizing surgical decision-making and clinical judgment, and advancing surgical safety by diminishing risk.

Dr. Routt is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Association, the Orthopedic Trauma Association, the AO Alumni Association, as well as other national and regional organizations. He has received a variety of teaching awards, and was also chosen for the Jack McDaniels Travelling Fellowship. Dr. Routt has directly mentored and educated well over 100 practicing orthopedic traumatologists in the USA and Canada, and has hosted and educated visiting surgeons from across the globe.
