Michael Zhu, MD, cares for adult and senior patients both in hospital (“inpatient” as an attending at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and at Harris Health System’s Lyndon B. Johnson Hospital) as well as in clinic (“outpatient” at UT Physicians). He is committed to bridging this inpatient/outpatient gap to empower his patients, especially those on their post-hospitalization recovery journey.
Dr. Zhu has many fond memories of growing up in the Greater Houston area. Upon completing his undergraduate degree in cell and molecular biology as part of the inaugural class of the Health Science Scholars program at the University of Texas at Austin, he returned to his Houston roots to attend McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth Houston). Dr. Zhu then stayed on for his internal medicine residency. After a deeply rewarding experience caring for his fellow Houstonians, he is grateful for the opportunity to continue to do so now as an assistant professor with the Division of General Internal Medicine.
He enjoys medical school/residency education and mentoring students interested in joining the medical profession. Other (non-medical) hobbies include photography, hiking, and gardening.

The Bellaire UT clinic and personnel to Doctor is very efficient and timely. That affects the Doctor's schedule as well. I do the portal pre checkin which expedites my process immensity and someone always comes out immediately after I say I'm here through the portal and says when I will be called back. I have many UT specialists and Bellaire UT clinic is only one that does that.
Dr Zhu is exemplary. He acknowledged me with a kind welcome. He was already aware of my medical issues ready to discuss them & provided a course of action. I felt comfortable sharing information & asking questions because of his patience & empathy. At the conclusion of visit I was confident with his diagnosis for improved health & wellness.
Provider experience was excellent, but check-in and initial vital taking procedure was stressful and impersonal.
Dr,Zhu listens, explains, suggests, and displays compassion. All extremely valuable and too often not characteristics of doctors. I have recommended him enthusiastically to friends and family.
The environment was EXTREMELY clean and organized. Signs and equipment were easy to follow and use. Every representative I came in contact with at the Bellaire location displayed professionalism and eye contact. I was blown away at the happy customer service I received. I want to see if this type of culture continues at this location because I will be recommending this location to family and friends. Wonderful job all around
From my first visit to Dr Zhu's I was amazed at how well I was treated. The nurses were my first point of contact. I was treated very nicely. Other questions were asked about my overall health, not just what I made the appointment for. We discussed other topics. Once Dr Zhu came in to see me he was very cordial. He made me feel very comfortable. Before my visit was over he even talked to me about all the other things that I mentioned to his nurse. I really like and look forward to any future appointments.
The entire staff is very friendly, caring, helpful and professional. Dr Zhu is one of the best PCP I ever had. He has great bedside manners.

I made a mistake with one key. Dr. Zhu did tell me what to do. We did talk about accidents, and he suggested that I wear a cane. And I think that he is just one of the most wonderful doctors there, and I've really enjoyed being a patient of his. Thank you.

My appointment was originally scheduled for 11/11. I had to cancel because I had to attend a funeral instead. The first available appointment was 12/17 for rescheduling. That's way too long to see a PCP
This is the first time I met Dr. Zhu because I was switching providers. I was very pleased with my first appointment and feel that he wil give me excellent care.
