Mehul D. Patel, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained pediatric cardiologist providing children with compassionate, patient-centered, and cost-effective heart care. He treats infants, children, teenagers, and young adults with simple or complex heart diseases. He has extensive experience in managing both congenital and pediatric acquired heart disease. He also has expertise in noninvasive cardiac imaging, including echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and cardiac computed tomography (CT).

Patel is also an associate professor in the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at the Children’s Heart Institute, where he is director of the Single Ventricle Home Monitoring Program, focused on monitoring and treating interstage infants. He is also associate director of pediatric echocardiography at UTHealth Houston and Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital.

Born and raised in the Panhandle Great Plains of Texas, Patel completed his Doctorate of Medicine at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, followed by his pediatric residency. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Mott Hospital at the University of Michigan, followed by a year of training in noninvasive cardiac imaging..

He publishes and presents his research on clinical outcomes of children with complex heart disease, cardiac magnetic resonance, and echocardiography at national medical conferences and peer-reviewed medical journals.
