Marianne Cusick, MD, FACS, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained colon and rectal surgeon. She cares for patients of all ages needing colon and rectal care and screenings. She treats a wide range of conditions, including benign and cancerous conditions of the colon, rectum, and anus, pelvic floor disorders, fecal incontinence, and inflammatory bowel disease. She performs minimally invasive robotic and laparoscopic surgeries on the DaVinci surgical system.
Cusick strives for enhanced recovery after surgery and advocates for prehabilitation to treat pain before and after surgery.
Cusick is an associate professor in the Department of Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where she’s involved in surgical education and research. She has published many scholarly articles and book chapters and has presented scientific research locally, regionally, and nationally.
Outside of work, Cusick enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and extended family, jogging, and traveling.
Marianne Cusick, MD, earned an undergraduate degree at Georgia Institute of Technology, a master’s in public health-epidemiology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, and her medical degree at Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. She completed her residency and a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Two 'No' answers due to questions were not applicable. I went to examine room before my appt time. Dr. Cusick was replacing a lost apparatus - this was not a regular office visit. So grateful we were able to get procedure done so quickly after medical issue. Thankful for Dr. C and her staff for making appointment, their skill and caring for me. Being able to alert the team on Mychart is a huge positive for patients with chronic issues. The team replied and were ready to care for me ASAP! Thanks

For some reason Dr had to turn her camera off. There were sev eral things I forgot to tell her & a couple of ? I needed to ask. No instructions were given as to how to resolve that issue. I don't wish to talk w/her staff. It's always an argument & they don't give her the msg to call me & I don't have a working computer at this time & I asked Elizabeth twice the last time I spoke to her & verified at the end of the conversation that she would have Dr Cusick call me. Instead Dr Cusick sent me an electronic msg that I was unaware of until Elizabeth called to tell me. I only use that for virtual visits. I can never get an person on the phone when I call the office. Elizabeth said "let's wait & see what your CT scan shows" that's NOT her decision & I had to wait 3 weeks to speak to the dr & get my test results. I'm very involved in my care & in my opinion that's too long to hav e to wait for test results. I had an issue getting blood work we discussed during the last virtual visit ordered. I had to go up to Dr Cusick's office 2/25 to get it resolved. I am forever grateful to Dr Cusick for coming in after midnight 12/27/2023 to perform my surgery. I trust her as my surgeon & appreciate her saving my life I wish her staff was more helpful & co-operative. Thank you.
Need assistants who speak English better
The registralion went smooth and the receptionist was pleasant and friendly. The nurse was pleasant in answering questions. The Dr addressed medical concerns and offered solutions.
Fresh. I mean its a like a breath of fresh air to come to a doctors appointment where everyone is super nice and caring. I did not feel rushed at all. Two doctors took their time to come talk to me and make sure I was taken care of. Thank you, I even forgot I was in pain!!
Dr. Cusick was great. The UT offices could use a refresh-they're old, worn and not as clean and comfortable as they should be.
Dr Cusick came highly recommended and I was not disappointed.

It is evident that Dr. Cusick cares about her patients and has shared that attitude with her staff. She definitely makes her patients feel that care & concern.

I think Dr Cusick's nurse has horrible people skills and needs to be more courteous of the patients and their needs or discomfort. She should also have the clinical room cleaned and sanitized before entering and not be so curt with patients. She has alarming patient skills. If it weren't for Dr Cusick's and her expertise I would not return to this clinic.
I was new to this facility. Everybody was very helpful, from the main entrance security person to the greeter person on the second floor. Check in was fast, I did not wait at all. Dr Cusick was very welcoming, friendly as always, that takes away your anxiety. She listened to you, I value that a lot.
