Maria Gabriela Segura Rivero, MD, is a compassionate doctor specializing in pediatric infectious diseases. She believes in the power of evidence-based care combined with empathy and excellent communication. Understanding that every child is unique, she strives to build strong, trusting relationships with patients and their families. By actively listening and providing clear explanations, she ensures that families feel heard and confident in their child’s care. The ultimate goal is to treat and empower patients and their families with the knowledge and support needed to make the best health decisions.

Segura Rivero is also an assistant professor of pediatric infectious disease at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.

Originally from Venezuela, she earned a medical degree from Universidad de Carabobo in Valencia. She completed her pediatric residency and fellowship training in infectious diseases at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She is board-eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics in pediatric infectious diseases.

Outside of work, Segura Rivero enjoys spending quality time with family, exploring new places through travel, and connecting with animals. She is passionate about animal welfare and frequently volunteers with foundations dedicated to benefiting animals.
