Leslie K. Taylor, PhD, is an assistant professor in Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. She serves as the clinical director of child services for the Trauma and Resilience Center.
A licensed psychologist, Taylor has experience working closely with children and families. She has also conducted research on the impacts of childhood trauma relative to the phenomenology of post traumatic stress symptoms, emotional, and behavioral conditions in their aftermath.
Taylor earned her PhD in applied developmental psychology with a minor in clinical interventions from the University of New Orleans. With training in developmental psychopathology and its clinical applications, she is able to examine the interplay among context, behavioral and developmental patterns when approaching child, teen and family intervention needs. She is trained in evidence-based practices for the treatment of emotional and behavioral concerns commonly experienced in childhood and adolescence, such as anxiety, depression, trauma and conduct problems.
Taylor also has specialized training in family engagement and empowerment and school mental health topic areas, such as positive behavior supports and socio-emotional learning programs. She is interested in researching and mobilizing the impacts of family-school-community partnerships to the benefit of children, youth and families.
