Julie Holihan, MD, is a board-certified surgeon specializing in abdominal wall reconstruction for hernia repair and weight loss surgery.
Her primary areas of interest are abdominal wall reconstruction (hernia) and weight loss surgery. Much of her practice is devoted to the treatment of abdominal wall hernias. She has done extensive research in this area, with over 70 peer-reviewed publications. Holihan is co-director of the UTHealth Houston Texas Hernia Center and is an active member of the American Hernia Society.
Holihan strives to stay informed of the latest treatment options in hernia, including minimally invasive and robotic surgery. In addition, she has had fellowship training through McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston in minimally invasive surgery and offers several weight loss options.
When not seeing patients, Holihan enjoys running, exercising on her Peloton, and spending time with her family.

The surgery went well. I healed well. Everyone treated me very well. My answers were, or my questions were answered thoroughly. What else? Oh, I messed up and I forgot to bring my FMLA forms. They accommodated me right there. They were able to send me the forms that I needed. Everyone is so professional, informative, and also very pleasant.
