Jessica Traver, MD, treats a wide variety of pediatric orthopedic and sports medicine disorders. She is dual fellowship trained in both pediatric orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine. She specializes in the treatment of young athletes for injuries such as pediatric trauma, growth plate injuries, ACL tears, patellar instability, ankle instability, osteochondritis dissecans, and injuries of the elbow, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle.
Dr. Traver has research interests in various areas of pediatrics and sports medicine, particularly the treatment of skeletally immature athletes, ACL injuries, and psychological readiness for return-to-sport. She has been published several publications and has presented at national meetings on a variety of topics including pediatric sports medicine and trauma.
Dr. Traver is also an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
Dr. Traver is a native Houstonian and grew up in Spring, Texas, where she was an avid soccer player for Challenge Soccer Club. She received her undergraduate degree from Tulane University in New Orleans as a NCAA Division I women’s soccer player and went on to be inducted into the Tulane Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015. Her experience as an elite athlete gives her unique perspective on treating young athletes and the importance of an expeditious, safe return-to-sport.
She returned to Texas to attend medical school at UTHealth. She completed both her internship and residency at Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. Dr. Traver went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric orthopedic surgery at Children’s Hospital Colorado. Afterwards, she completed second fellowship in Sports Medicine at the prestigious Harvard University/Boston Children’s Hospital where she served as a team physician to University of Massachusetts Boston and for the 2019 Boston Marathon.

We drove from out of town to consult with her regarding my child's orthopedic issues. Dr. Traver went above and beyond with her care and level of expertise. Everyone from check-in, x-ray, the assistants, medical assistants, Dr. Traver, and check-out were all great. I love it there and will continue to bring my family there!
My biggest concern was the wait time, I was at the office for almost 2 hours, and I was there 40 minutes early. But everyone was very friendly, respectful, and knowledgeable. I would still come to this clinic because of the awesome staff and Doctor but I would just plan for a longer wait time.

Dr Traver was able to help us address the acute issue at hand while giving expert advice for prevention of future injuries. We loved the addition of having Sara, Personal Trainer, on the team. Sara was able to communicate directly with the Trainer at school and provide tips and advice for continued progress toward healing!

Appointment scheduling was difficult. I was misinformed about my provider and rescheduled several times.
Dr. Traver and her whole team were absolutely exceptional from the injury intake to x-rays to Dr. Travers exam. I love her bedside manner with my teen and I really feel like she understands her injuries since she was a former competitive soccer player herself! We definitely found the right Dr and team for my daughter's needs.

My son broke his leg and we needed a last minute urgent appointment. The front office was so kind helping me get my account set up, the medical staff spoke to my [...] year old son about his care, not just me. Everything was explained very clearly and we both left with an understanding of the two possible outcomes and what the next steps were. The staff member at checkout was also very friendly. I know people showing up and needing to be squeezed in makes things harder for everyone, but all of the staff was overly accommodating and kind. I would highly recommend this office and Dr. Traver to anyone. Great customer service!
