Jay R. Gavvala, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained clinical neurophysiologist treating drug-resistant epilepsy, stereo-electroencephalography, critical care EEG, neuromodulation in epilepsy, and magnetoencephalography.
He’s an associate professor of neurology at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston and a member of the Texas Comprehensive Epilepsy Program. He also serves as director of the Adult Magnetoencephalography Laboratory at Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center.
Gavvala received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He completed his neurology residency and fellowship in clinical neurophysiology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

Dr Gavvala, has not changed my medicine since I have been with him and I continue to have my seizures. On this visit he did not do notes or a summary after the visit.

Even though I arrived late, they were still able to see me
I was told the timing of the visit was 3 p.m. I arrived at 2 45 and I did not get seen until 3 45 and it was too rushed and not enough people were there to assist.
The whole experience from check in to check out was very positive. The doctor, nurse and receptionist were all friendly and professional.
Dr. Gavvala was very good, but the office staff was horrible. They never did follow up to let me know when. They forgot about me in the waiting area. But once I was called back, Dr. Gavvala treated me very well.
