Deepa A. Iyengar, MD, MPH, is a professor and vice chair for the Department of Family and Community Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. Dr. Iyengar is also the medical director for two UT Physicians clinics.
Dr. Iyengar is board certified in family medicine and sees patients of all ages. She focuses on providing care that is respectful and responsive to each patient’s preferences, needs, and values with respect to clinical decisions. Dr. Iyengar has an interest in health conditions unique to people of Southeast Asian descent, women’s health, and obesity.
When Dr. Iyengar is not caring for patients, she enjoys exercising and listening to music.

I have the utmost respect for the entire staff, as they are always ready to help when I have questions that may occur between visits. Dr. Iyengar has been my PCP for over 20 years and takes the time to study my medical conditions before entering the exam room so she can advise me on how to continue on my course of a healthy lifestyle. Her positive bedside manner puts me at ease and makes the visit a pleasant experience.
Dr. Iyengar is a pivotal part of my mental health stability and I truly appreciate her so much.

My first appointment in December was cancelled. Then the follow up was cancelled-both unilaterally without explanation. This is frustrating. I like my doctor but I would like for it to be easier to get in to see her. For that reason I'm not particularly happy with my experiences.

Hi, my name is [...] and I just wanted to say that my experience with Dr. Deepa's office was phenomenal. From her staff to her, they asked all the right questions. They upon the first visit, initial visit where I've been to other positions before and they did not seem at least interested. You had to pretty much tell them what's going on and so if someone's asking and figuring out and actually, Dr. Deepa actually looked over my medical records prior to my visit so when she came in she was familiar with what was going on with me and she just seemed concerned, genuine, helpful and just I'm so glad I found her.
