Dacia J. Ticas, MD, is fellowship-trained and double board-certified in sports medicine and emergency medicine. She focuses on nonoperative sports injuries and specializes in diagnosing, treating, and preventing musculoskeletal injuries and conditions. She provides nonsurgical treatment options such as physical therapy, splinting, bracing, oral and topical medications, and various injections to help her patients achieve their desired activity levels.
She is also an assistant professor and the director of sports medicine for the Department of Emergency Medicine at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
She obtained her medical degree from The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. She completed her residency training in emergency medicine at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville. She further specialized by completing a primary care sports medicine fellowship at the University of Arizona College of Medicine in Tucson.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and child, traveling, and golfing.

Hey, I'm [...]. Dr. Ticas, she's very attentive and she was a good listener and she listened to all what I was saying. I had an injury happened, but I said all about my pain and she really understands and she given the best treatment for me. It's a medial prednisone that will help for my inflammation. So she prescribed for that. Actually, this injury happened on last month, 29th, but I was thinking that if they could prescribe that early, you know, I feel much better on that day, but she prescribed on that medication plus some other muscle relaxation that helped me a lot. I have to tell that. And she ordered MRI for me and physical therapy.
Oh, my doctor was excellent. Very nice, very helpful, has really good bed side manner.

My doctor listened to my concerns and gave me positive feedback but the office staff always seem to get my order for my physical therapy wrong my doctor always schedule my physical therapy in my home because I don't drive anymore I just can't understand why they keep getting the order wrong I really appreciate Dr Ticas and she is always on point maybe the staff needs a little more care when scheduling services
