Dr. Cody Tillinghast is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at The University of Texas Health Science Center McGovern Medical School at Houston (UTHealth).
Dr. Tillinghast is board eligible by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery and specializes in orthopedic spine surgery. He focuses on both surgical and nonsurgical care of a variety of spine pathology including trauma and fractures, degenerative disease like stenosis and myelopathy, herniated discs, scoliosis and deformity, tumors, and revision procedures. When clinically appropriate, he is experienced in using technology (both navigation and robotics) to assist in optimizing surgical results. Dr. Tillinghast practices with a patient centered approach, by individualizing treatment plans to provide compassionate care and achieve the best outcomes.
Born and raised in Arizona, Dr. Tillinghast graduated Summa Cum Laude at the University of Arizona with a degree in Biology and minors in both Spanish and Chemistry. His medical training began in the Houston Texas Medical Center, earning both his MD and orthopedic surgery residency diploma at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston. Dr. Tillinghast completed his Spine Surgery fellowship with the world-renowned spine surgeons at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia.
He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and AO Spine North America. He enjoys sports, exercise, reading, and travel in his spare time. Dr. Tillinghast is proficient in both English and Spanish.

Yeah, this is, well, it doesn't matter. Dr. Cody, I think I asked, took his time, was very informative. I give him a 10 out of 10. I've already recommended him to other doctors for them to refer him to their patients or get to know him. And I'll refer him to other people, too. But, yeah, I've already referred him. He's a really good doctor, great bedside matter, and really knows his stuff and was very thorough. That's all I got to say. And I'll be back to him for sure. Thank you.
It was annoying to have spent all the time and effort to fill out my medical history and other various forms online ahead of time, just to arrive for my appointment and still have to fill out the same paper copy of everything. Please just do one or the other.
Always choose Methodist when I'm in urgent need.

Hi, my appointment was at 4, the suggested time was 3.45. I did not see the doctor or even get called back until maybe 4.30, maybe a little later. I was given paperwork and the nurse never took the paperwork. The questions she asked me were on the paperwork. The front desk gave me paperwork and told me to give it when I saw the nurse. The nurse never took the paperwork. At the end of my visit, I then gave it to the checkout. When I arrived, I paid a $50 copayment. I then asked the young lady who checked me in, does my secondary insurance pick up my copayment? She wouldn't act because I was unsure as well.

I did not experience any waiting time! My issues did not occur from any accident. They are simply from aging and degenerative arthritis. I love Dr. Tillinghast as he has always been straightforward, honest and up front about my condition.
I like the Doctor he is very good but the staff is rude two receptionist sit on the but. and didn't ask if they could help the black woman that were sitting on the left if you facing the desk got up and went in the back came back and left out the side door .the man weren't any better until the nice lady who were helping another couple told them to help me so no I hope that I don't have to come back there I would have to find another Orthopedic Dr. because those two need to be trained how to help a person that they keep just standing there for over 6 minutes

Dr Tillinghast is exceptional. He is patient , listen and engages me in helping to manage my health. I would highly recommend him to everyone that is looking for a exceptional doctor.

Dr Cody pulled up images and then thoughtfully explained what he was seeing. Gave me plenty of time to ask questions/comment about what I was seeing. Used this as a base for treatment options.

It was explained to the provider how much pain I'm in and he prescribed nothing. Still in pain to this day and have been referred to another doctor for injections. This would make the 3rd doctor to be referred to for my back pain.
I thought Dr. Tillinghast and all his staff were very, very professional. They knew what they were doing.

Dr. Tillinghast was a good listener to all my concerns and questions. He was able to review my medical history and provided a clear plan of action. Furthermore, he fully addressed the plan of action and provided answers that were easily understood. I am still under his care for a severe case of sciatica. I appreciated his patience with all my questions and would recommend Dr. Tillinghast.
