Barbara Schroeder, MD is a graduate of Trinity University with Magna Cum Laude honor and completed both her medical degree and residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Dr. Schroeder is affiliated with Women’s Memorial Hermann Memorial City. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the American Medical Association and the Texas Medical Association.
Dr. Schroeder is an Assistant Professor at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth and has been practicing Obstetrics and Gynecology in Houston, Texas since 1998.

Dr. Schroeder is probably my favorite Dr. She is knowledgable in her field and relays her message in such a caring way. She works hard and I completely trust her as a professional in her field.
Wait time was reported to be 10-15mins and was closer to 40! I appreciate that unforeseen circumstances occur BUT I wish that staff were 100% honest about how long the wait will be rather than stating a time to appease a patient. Staff need to consider that patients too have plans to make to rearrange their later commitments when delayed. There should be a mutual consideration for our time. Perhaps a sliding fee scale could be introduced to incentivize timekeeping. Lost wages of patients kept longer and missing work are never taken into account when billing for a very late appointment.

I was very impressed. My PCP recommended her. She is very easy to talk to and very thorough and knowledgeable. This was my first visit with her and I was very pleased, will definitely be recommending her to others! Also, all the office staff was great too!

It was fine though there is some information on line that is not updated though I filled it out and submitted it on line and also gave the information to the nurse. Specifically. my list of medications. Otherwise all is fine.

The medical assistant who took my vitals was very kind, very nice. Also, I had absolutely no wait time once I came in. I had no wait time in the waiting room and I had like really no wait time to see Dr. Schroeder. So I thought that was wonderful. Thank you.

I have previously seen Dr. Blancas, and she has been great and very caring and communicative, but menopause is not her focus so I had hoped to shift to the same level of care from a provider more focused on that life phase. I had specifically requested a doctor who focused more on the menopause transition than on childbearing years, and I was willing to wait several months to have an appointment with Dr. Schroeder. I arrived early and got checked in quickly. The doctor's assistant or PA (she didn't tell me her name or anything) was fine and took my vitals and got me in a room efficiently. My appointment was supposed to be at 10:30. I sat in the exam room in my hospital gown for 45 minutes before Dr. Schroeder came in at 11:20. She did not introduce herself to me or ask my name or anything, even though this was my first appt with her. She asked if I was staying healthy and how my family was doing, did the exam, and left within 5 or 6 minutes. While she was doing the exam I told her I hadn't seen her before but wanted a provider who focused more menopause, since I'm in that transition. She asked one follow up question, I told her I was on estrogen, and that was it. No other discussion. As she was leaving she asked if I had any concerns, but I didn't feel like there was space for me to ask the questions that I wanted to ask. As I am going through a major life change, I was hoping for a consultation where a doctor actually showed some interest and concern and maybe could talk me through whether I'm on the right medications and dosages, whether I'm doing the things I need to do to stay healthy. I thought that's what a "well woman" exam was meant to be. Dr. Schroeder was perfectly pleasant, and I have no doubt she is competent, but I have rarely had a medical appointment that I left as disappointed and angry as I left this one. We did not discuss my family history, my personal history, my conditions or medications, or my mental health. She didn't order bloodwork, although she did order a mammogram. I could go on about how frustrated, angry, and disappointed I am, but I will leave it at that. We all deserve better care than this. I do have a primary care physician, and she is helpful, but getting my reproductive hormones in balance and helping me make sure I'm transitioning well is not really her specialty either.
Wish my labs would be easily available to all of my providers
