Overview

About

Ashley H. Ebanks is a board-certified nurse practitioner (NP) providing pediatric surgery care. She performs preoperative consults and postoperative visits and cares for children with feeding tubes.

Ebanks wears many hats within the pediatric surgery department. She’s the clinical and research coordinator for the Comprehensive Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH) Program. She also consults on prenatal diagnoses of CDH in the UTHealth Houston Fetal Center, as well as children and adults in the multidisciplinary CDH clinics.

In addition, Ebanks coordinates the data for the Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia Study Group (CDHSG) at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston — an international registry for centers to submit data on patients with CDH. The CDHSG has published more than 80 manuscripts.

Ebanks began her career as a hospital medical-surgical nurse. After obtaining her certification as a family nurse practitioner in 2016, she began working in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at McGovern Medical School. She is currently pursuing additional training as an acute care pediatric nurse practitioner at The University of Texas at Austin.

Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and spending time with family, friends, and her church youth group.

Hi, this is [...][...], and I just wanted to acknowledge Dr. [...] and his entire team. They listened to our concerns with my daughter, [...], and during the entire consult, surgery, and follow-up, were most caring and professional. And the good news is, while medically it makes no sense, the appendectomy seems to have fixed her issues. She has not complained of any pain other than just normal healing incision pain since the surgery. And so I just really appreciate you going out and trying something to see if it would work, because it did, even though it makes no sense from a pathology standpoint. And so, appreciate you. You made a huge difference in her life and in our lives. And so, thank you for everything that you and your team did.
