Aaron Rayford, PA-C, is a physician assistant in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston.
Aaron specializes in sports medicine injuries as well as hand, wrist, and upper extremity pathology. He sees patients in the office and assists with surgical procedures where he works alongside sports medicine specialist Joshua Griffin, MD. Aaron also participates in the training room and game coverage for Sam Houston State University, in addition to providing orthopedic care for various local high schools.
Aaron received his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in biology from The University of Texas at San Antonio. After completing his bachelor’s degree, he went on to work in a multitude of orthopedic settings where he gained experience in trauma, pain management, total joint replacement, and foot and ankle care.
Aaron first joined UTHealth Houston in 2017 after obtaining a certification as a registered orthopedic technician but his thirst for knowledge and love for orthopedics prompted him to advance his education. He received a master’s degree in physician assistant studies from Colorado Mesa University in 2021 where he graduated with honors and earned the Maverick Award due to his determination, grit, and strive for excellence. Aaron promises to bring the same mentality to patient care as a provider for your orthopedic needs.
He is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
In his spare time, Aaron enjoys playing basketball, watching sporting events, traveling, and spending time with his friends, family, and significant other.

This is [...], and you've probably got all my background information, but I feel like I was not very up to speed on how to manage my medications. There's a lot of information there, but I have not taken this much medication or some of these strong medications previously, and I wouldn't say I got myself in trouble, but I definitely had some uncomfortable hours trying to get things, get back on top of things. That's all. Maybe there could be a class or a short video on how to manage the medications and diet as well. So, that's all I've got. Thanks. Bye.
