Lace up for the rebranded UTHealth Houston Half Marathon & 10K on Sunday, Oct. 27, in downtown Houston.
Returning as the title sponsor is an important endeavor for UTHealth Houston as the event aligns closely with the mission-driven work of the university’s students, faculty, staff, and physicians. In recognition of the unified effort, the event now features an updated logo that renames the race to signify a three-year collaboration between the half marathon and the university.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for UTHealth Houston to engage again with the community through a fun, fitness-forward event,” said Andrew Casas, executive vice president of UTHealth Houston and chief operating officer of UT Physicians. “Two iconic Houston brands are coming together in one stellar event that emphasizes health and fitness.”
Hosted by Houston Striders, a longtime running club, the Houston Half Marathon & 10K is a fall tradition for thousands, now bolstered by a renewed partnership with UTHealth Houston. The union will expand the message and culture of personal well-being throughout Greater Houston.
“The Houston Striders have been organizing the Houston Half Marathon & 10K since 2006 to foster community engagement, promote physical fitness, and support local charities in our unique and multicultural city. We’re delighted to collaborate with UTHealth Houston,” stated Kofi Burney, interim president, Houston Striders.
The 2024 UTHealth Houston Half Marathon & 10K early bird registration begins Monday, April 1. On marathon day, medical tents at the event will be staffed by UTHealth Houston personnel.
